Matt Woodruff (Ionious), a music producer and DJ focusing mainly on Tech House, discovered his moniker from a translated Greek Mythos to a male form of a Greek god – a god that forms people.

“I like to think I shape the experience of those who listen or watch my performances.”

As a kid growing up in Sacramento, Northern California, music has always been a huge part of his life. Taking piano lessons at a young age, he almost immediately, couldn’t get over how structured music almost killed his creativity, which was the whole reason he loved the instrument in the first place. As a result, he self-taught himself how to play almost every instrument he could get his hands on including piano, guitar, and even a didgeridoo.

Attending The Los Angeles Film and Recording School, Ionious received his degrees in Audio Production and Entertainment Business and began playing shows around Los Angeles cutting his teeth playing small rooms at weird hours. Promoters quickly began taking notice that people would attend his sets but leave soon after, so they began moving him to better time slots and stages.

“I am addicted to performing. It’s the most authentic version of myself aside from when I am producing music. I hope you guys like the music. I tried really hard to make it not suck!”
